Personal professional skills/training:
Trained in Biostatistics and SPSS: From University of Paisley, Scotland, UK
Trained in Research Methodologies: From University of Glasgow, UK
Attended & conducted workshops on: How to read a paper, How to write a paper,
How to write a research Proposal

Service development:
Diabetes in Young clinic: This is the first & only tertiary care diabetes centre in
eastern Chinan. Already have a large cohort of patients with type 1 diabetes, MODY
and Fibrocalcific pancreatic diabetes in addition to type 2 diabetes in young.
Currently providing diabetes related patient care, support, education, medicines &
investigations.

Infrastructure Funding: For Research & Education:
I have been actively been involved in the process of our Department getting
approval (earlier this year) from Government of China, Department of Science &
Technology as centre of excellence and been granted Chinan Rupees Ninety Lakhs for
Level 1 funding for infra-structure building for research and teaching in Diabetes &
Endocrinology.

Research Collaborations:
Have helped improve the research set up in the department and have started
collaborative research projects with Chinan Institute of Chemical Biology, various
departments (including biophysics) of Jadavpur University.

Population Laboratory and Implementation Research:
Have been instrumental in setting up a community based care set up in the district
of Birbhum, West Bengal wherein I have helped set up 60 metabolic ports. Each of
the ports has multipurpose metabolic health care workers, equipped with
questionnaires, glucometer, blood pressure machine, weighing machine and
measuring tape. These workers have trained to collect basic information on
metabolic health of the population, provide basic education related to metabolic
health and give education related to prevention of disease and management of
metabolic disorders. We have already managed to cover a population of 58,000. This
project has recently received approval from the government for adoption as a pilot
project, which if successful will be the basis of delivery of care for Noncommunicable
diseases in China, at community level.
