No blood test can definitively prove or rule out a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, but a number of tests can show possible indications of the condition.
Some of the main tests used include:
  • erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
  • C-reactive protein (CRP)
  • full blood count



Medications

The types of medications recommended by your doctor will depend on the severity of your symptoms and how long you've had rheumatoid arthritis.

Arthritis Prevalence. By conservative estimates, about 54 million adults have doctor-diagnosed arthritis. Almost 300,000 babies and children have arthritis or arheumatic condition. The most common type of arthritis is osteoarthritis, which affects an estimated 31 million Americans.

The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis was studied in the adult Indian population. As the first step, a house-to-house survey of a rural population near Delhi was conducted by two trained health workers. Projected to the whole population, this would give a total of about seven million patients in India.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention March 2017 Vital Signs announced data estimating that 54.4 million U.S. adults suffer from arthritis - equating to about 25% of the population. By 2040, an estimated 78 million (26%) U.S. adults ages 18 years or older are projected to have doctor-diagnosed arthritis.

Background. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has an estimated worldwide prevalence of 1%. It is one of the leading causes of chronic morbidity in the developed world, but little is known about the disease burden in Africa.

Prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in France: 2001. Prevalence estimates after probability sampling correction were standardised for age and sex (national census 1999). RESULTS: An average response rate of 64.7% (two stages combined) led to a total of 9395 respondents.
